Google Business Profile Basics for Dallas Businesses

More people read your listing than ever reach your homepage. Where the two disagree, the listing is believed.

The primary category does almost all the work

Nearly all of your visibility hangs off that one primary category. Choosing a vague one to keep options open is the usual route to showing up for nothing, shifting slabs included.

Set it to the work you want repeating, stack the rest underneath, and revisit whenever spring hail reshapes the job mix.

Service area or address, not both by accident

Shops publish the address. Mobile trades set a radius and hide it. An address at a unit nobody staffs collects reviews from people who drove over and found it locked, which is a hard way to learn you stop at how far north you drive.

Draw it where you truly go. Claiming every city in the Metroplex waters the listing down and fills the phone with jobs you turn away.

Hours, holidays, and storm weeks

Nothing earns a one-star quicker than a wasted drive across town. Load the holiday hours ahead of time rather than fixing it after a complaint.

Set them for storm weeks too. If the whole crew is on roofs and nobody is at the shop, the listing should say as much.

Recent photographs, not a logo

A listing showing jobs from this month pulls more taps than one showing a logo and a stock image. Three or four monthly beats one annual batch of twenty.

Include the front of the building and the parking, so a first-time customer knows they have the right place, even arriving from Oak Cliff.

Land each tap on the page it asked for

Routing everything to the homepage throws the intent away. Somebody who clicked about foundation repair should arrive already reading about foundation repair.

Neighborhoods work the same. Lakewood in the query means Lakewood on the screen when it loads.

Ask for the review at the right moment

Face to face, the moment the work is signed off and the house is cool again, with the link already open on your phone. A bulk email three weeks later does nothing.

Answer every one, the rough ones included, and write for the stranger reading it months from now, probably while looking at a shifting slab. That person is the real audience.
